Thanks for the info, RJ. The March Mart at Mercer is something I will definitely attend, In fact, I'm considering volunteering for it.
Your listing for Jerry's Jungle has no website or address listed.

Thanks RJ. We're planning on Jerry's Jungle. We want to visit Elvis, again!

LOL....he should have a pot luck so we can all hang out and shop..!

What serendipitous luck about seeing your post about Zone 9 tropicals! I took off work and visited them - I had ordered several plants from Zone9 online in the last few years; but to finally meet Mr. DuPont was great. I think we chatted over an hour. You did me a service; hopefully I can return it at some point.

Did you come during the sale? I was there.

Anyone have any information on Hope Farms in Cleveland/Cut n Shoot?
It's off 105, I think maybe 1484? Can't recall now. Been only once and loved it!!

Any info greatly apprecated!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

mmm...that's one I haven't heard...please let me know if you find out!

Hope Gardens will be open every weekend in May. She always has a great selection of plants.

Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Cajun, is that the daylily place? I found a GREAT nursery yesterday in Tarkington called Ferrell's Foliage. She has large greenhouses all over the place and sells all sorts of veggies, herbs, houseplants and outside plants (she also has extremely good prices, ie. 25 CENTS for vegetable plants). She told me about a daylily farm off 105, but I didn't get the name of it. You can get her phone number and email addy from her website: gingersoftexas.com
She is very knowledgeable and helpful. I spent about 2 hours at her nursery yesterday asking questions and enjoying the sights.

Great! Thanks, Annette! I'm hoping I'll get my card in the mail.

Yes, it's the daylily place and it's awesome!!!
Ooooooh! Tarkington, huh? We should meet up and go some time!
I'll also check out the site - thanks for the scoop!

Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Anytime, Cajun. I loved that place! And she knows ALL the events in Houston and surrounding area. She told me about the Houston Bulb Mart - http://gchouston.org/BulbPlantMart/tabid/69/Default.aspx and about an event in Montgomery County, but I don't remember when. She was giving me so much information that there's no way I can remember it all. The next time I go there I'm taking notes. lol Her website just has gingers, but she has hundreds of other things, too.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks...I just posted her place & site at the end of my blog appearing in tomorrows Chronicle "houstongrows" garden section.

I'm a big supplier for HBP mart every year--my favorite way to donate excess. I'm also a member of the Houston garden club

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

ah yes...Deb can you give me your website again..I'm going to post that one in tomorrows blog if it's okay with you.
come see me this saturday..zone9 is having another sale...we can have a beverage at my place and chill for a few in between the zillions of garden and otherwise projects we have.

I might can come--but I'm definitely broke until April; but would love to look. My neighbor is finally replacing his fence that's about to come down into my vegetable garden tomorrow and Saturday. I lucked out--he's a concrete construction guy and he has the saw to cut rebar. He thinks he can cut down my arbor that was mangled by Ike; because I tried to dig it out and can't do it. I just built something else. So Sunday might be better, are they still having open house then? I'd really like to come by--I could help you out around there Sunday afternoon or morning (but not too early--lol).

Do you do FB? I've got a photo album on my bizarre solution to the problem on there. I'm finishing it up tomorrow and painting it purple (that ought arose your curiosity). Aptly named girl vs hurricane--I'm only 5'5" and no one enjoys garden work around here (just the fresh organic produce--lol--never any problems with finding help for the harvest).

I'll dmail you my website--its also on my membership page.

Just checked out that Houston Grows page on The Chronicle and found this info on the sale at our local extension office:

Montgomery County Master Gardener Association
Next Plant Sale: The Spring Plant Sale March 21
http://www.montgomerycountymastergardeners.org/phototext.html

The other extension offices are listed here:

I've been to the Montgomery County sale and it was great!! VERY inexpensive and lots of good information too.

so the Montgomery club mention was in Houston Grows? I think I'll slip it in the blog anyway..it's already published though.

Debbie, Yes I'm broke too. I just go and hang out...it is on saturday 8am to 6pm..I live right down the street, so it is fun to look and exchange ideas.
I usually will go help him out around 11 when it gets a little busy.
I'm thinking what FB is...slow this morning.
If you want to hang for a while let me know..We're gardeners, and so I don't pencil things down like appointments full of expectation, I'm on plant time!

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

good thing Randy, because "manana time" is about all I understand anymore either....
;)

Bear Creek Extension Service has their plant sale April 18--they usually have a flyer out about it; I'll post a link to it when they get it up but here is the date. Its basically the same as the Montgomery Co sale--just out here on North hwy 6 near Clay road. That will be clopser for folks on the west side of Houston. I haven't been in years--but they used to be pretty crowded so arrive early. I always attend the fruit tree and citrus sale in January--its always got a healthy crowd too.
