A friend has part of his garden close to a stream. He says there is a somewhat sunken place near it which holds water for a few days after a rain. Then the soil will remain wet even after the water is gone. Here we have a rocky, red clay.
Are there any vegetables that thrive on boggy or wet soil? Also, what should he do to change the makeup of the soil so that it is not boggy some of the time.
The water apparently sits just long enough to kill the plants in that specific spot.
wet and sometimes boggy soil?
He could tile the area so the water drains away from it.
Raised Beds.
French drain
Sounds like a great place for celery.
