Hello everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome! After living in a house with near-total shade for 25 years, we moved to a new area that has shade in the backyard and wonderful glorious full sun in the front yard. At last I can plant all those sun-loving plants that I have drooled over for so long LOL My biggest ongoing project is my wildflower garden. It currently covers about 25' X50' but I am enlarging it this year. This spring will be my first try at starting plants from seeds. I am trying seeds this year`for two reasons: there are many varieties that nurseries don't carry, and it has become just too expensive to buy all the plants. I bought the seedstarting trays, the soil, the warming mats, the growlights and the seeds. Now I just wait until...the first week of April? That would be 8 weeks before Memorial Day, which is when I feel safe planting outside. What say you, fellow Michiganders? When do YOU start counting the weeks before last frost? My husband and I hope to turn most of our front yard of grass into a well-planned and attractive prairie/wildflower area that will be drought tolerant. I welcome your ideas and your friendship. Bring on the warm weather!

Welcome Queenofsheba to the Michigan forum.

I am on the Lake Huron side of the state and usually do not start my seed till at least the first or second week in April even though I have a greenhouse. You just never know what Mother Nature is gonna dish out to us, and based on this past winter, I am going to wait till then for sure.

Come and join us daily, there is always something going on here in the Michigan forum with so many talented gardeners here in Michigan.
