Found a place http://www.plantcreations.com/fragrantplants.htm with some pretty neat "stuff" for some pretty amazing prices i.e. 3 gal Bay Rum $10 that I've been lusting after. Problem? They don't ship - *sad face* Since we all know I have no pride when it comes to tracking down a plant - I thought I just ask. Yes, I know FL's a big state that's why I'm asking...LOL IF anyone's near there and might like to shop for me (yeah, I know b/c no one has anything else to do, right - I swear I'd do the same for you)...please let me know. Thank you for listening to my continued ramblings...
Hmmm...just got a call back from them and they don't think the Bay Rum would be ok container grown. I swore I'd read some where that they did :(

Any of my FL buds near Homestead FL 33030?
Seems like they have some nice plants....sadly it's 4 hours away from me, I think Tops and also Crowleys is closer to me.....I'm still nagging hubby about a drive down there, luckily Crowleys comes to the plant sales each year so I get enough of a fix then.....I haven't seen anyone offer the Bay Rum at the plant sales, I'll look out for both of us this time round....I think the next one is in March.
Thank you Samantha!! TT's has it but I just hate paying that plus their shipping. I do want one though but I'll be patient as you always find such goodies at the shows you hit...thank you so much!!!
Sorry, Chantell. Homestead is about 2 hours with traffic from here.
That's ok....sooner or later I'll find someone that has it at a reasonable price as well as s/h being good.
I've had a bay rum in a pot for 8 yrs now. It's 6 ft and in a 2 ft wide pot. If I could get some seeds I gather from the gardens to germinate, I'd send you some.
BTW, TTrpcls was at Selbys this past weekend for the spring plant sale. Bought a nice thornless Jujube.
Kevin - you must have the most amazing yard...you should take pics when you have a moment!! Must be a fragrant wonderland!!! Oh pretty please - if you get any going I would love one!!!! ^_^
Hi, Chantell....where in the Middle of Virginia are you from? I have family in Lynchburg, and would be happy to bring you up some plants from Top Tropical or Crowleys the next time I go up. If you send me a Dmail, I'll let you know the next time I'm coming up that way. You can just send a blank message or just say hi or something so that I will remember your ID to drop you a note when I'm planning my trip. In the meantime, I can usually be reached on the Florida Gardening thread!
Marianne
Marianne - you are SO sweet!!! Thank you.
Sometimes DH & I take a ride to homestead to visit the nursery's there. If we go & you still need one of these I'd be happy to get one for you. We love to buy fruit trees, now I want to start a fragrant garden as well. Can you give a suggestion for some must have plants?
Regards
Carol

You should come to the plant sale at Mount's Botanical garden this month- 25th + 26th. Gardino's, one of the best fragrant nurseries ever will be there. Some of us are even getting together for that, and also the South FL Galloping Gardeners in the Florida forum sometimes get together for general nursery tours, too!
Where is this taking place at? I'd love to meet some other people as I'm just learning about fragrant gardening.
Here is the link to Mounts:
http://www.mounts.org/home.asp
It is in West Palm Beach just west of the airport on Military Trail.
I happen to be hosting a get together on that Sunday and will offer a modest fish fry/pot luck and tour of my place. I ALWAYS have something fragrant in bloom, so you are welcome to come and I'll send you home with plants, too. Here is the link for that, too if you want to chat about it or get more info: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/971609/
Wow, Thanks so much!! I would love to come to the fry. I'll check out the link you gave above.
hi Carol...nice to see you here! you will get a lot more help from these locals than me up here in the semi artic....although i have a trick for all you citrus ladies...i just got out of the bath and smeared on some coconut oil i had enflueraged lemon blossom in and (excuse me) but i smell like heaven! my husband says "you really need a place to grow and process a lot more flowers" yes! (i have one tiny lemon tree i grow in a pot )
Hi Dabney. You could really do a lot with the flowers I have around here. Violabird came over today and it was a lot of fun. So many babies opened up for her today and one of them was new to me- Brunfelsia lactea. All we could come up with for scent comparison was "perfume."
So, got any of that incredible coconut stuff to share? :-)
hehe i wish i could make that much but most of the blooms go into the still pot. i would LOVE to come down to tropic land and smell!!! i had a brunfelsia (i think that was it) once and had to get it out of the house...when it opened, it was so narcotic that i almost couldn't drive into town and pick up my son. scary! but something like that would be ideal for the coconut treatment, i think.
Narcotic.....hmmm. Is that what makes my synapses go zoom, zoom, zoom zoom zoom!?!?!?!!
Edited to add: that is how I would describe sniffing Brunfelsia lactea.

*pouting in VA*...ya'll have having way too much fun...and I'm TOO far away!! Ok...now...tell me about this Brunfelsia lactea...course you've got my fragrance radar up and running now...
actually Chantell, your garden is a bit warmer than mine! i'm in a 6b...but i grow a lot inside. and now i'm tempted to try one of these beasts again! but yes, a lot of white flowers share narcotic chemicals. F4F, can you pick out any other 'notes'...like lemon, honey, jasmine???? go smell it again. :)
"but i grow a lot inside" - Oh how I hear you!!! Some folks go the interior design route - me? I go the tropical jungle look!! LOL
Hi Dabney,
Thanks for the heads up on this website it's great! Hey I'd so love to talk by the telly if you'd like I can email ya my #.
I'm gonna get to visit f4f's garden at the end of the month. I'm sooo excited!
My sm house in upstate NY is zone 5a, pretty cold and I have a lot of wind on my property. I should name it windblown farm. lol On some rainy nights it sounds just like one of those old horror films. But I do love that old house!
