Basil cutting story

Renton, WA

After reading that older or woody basil could be cut and placed in water til rooting
and planted.
I thought I would try it by taking the extra basil that I could not use
at my favorite Vietnamese Pho place and putting in a plastic bottle.

and it worked-
from a couple of weeks earlier -
a basil rooted and transplanted.

thought I would pass it on to those who had that extra basil on the side.

Yay!

I don't think the cuttings necessarily need to be older/woody... I've rooted all sorts of different basil snips, very quickly as you said, just by putting in a glass of water. It helps to change the water regularly.

Now, pinch the tip off your new little plant! See those little shoots forming down lower at the base of the leaves? They're just waiting to become branches when you nip off the top. :-)

Thanks!, I will. Most times the basil I've grown and picked tender gets used but
a great way to build up stock even quicker.
