My 11 year old kitty, Monty, has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. He had been overweight, was put on a diet and was losing weight. We took him to the vet for his annual and his blood work came back today.
He's gone from 26lbs. to 20lbs. in about 8 months. We'd been noticing the weight loss and that he'd been spending a lot of time at the water bowl. His appetite didn't seem to change. He's as active as he used to be and doesn't seem like anything is wrong. But, that's why we have check-ups, isn't it.
Does anyone have any advice on diet, therapies or anything that we can do at home? We're probably going to have him on meds for this the rest of his life.
