Happy Birthday begoniacrazii !
Happy Birthday!!! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
Happy, Happy Day!!!
Lin,
What is that gorgeous plant?
Lynn
Lin, is that a current picture of your chrysothemis? I've been searching at both HD and Lowes since last Sept-Oct. for it. I go every week and the girls in the gardening greet me with "No!!
No chrysothemis has come in yet". Your plant is georgeous.
Lynn: That is Chrysothemis.
Eileen: No, that picture is from last summer. I had two of those beauties and both kicked the bucket! ... not by fault of their own, but from me leaving them out on the deck when it got down to 26 degrees and stayed cold for many hours! We had three or four nights in the mid twenties ... plants don't like that for some reason! I will watch our HD for them to come in, that's where I bought them last year and they had oodles on the racks, gallon size pots for $3.98 if I'm remembering correctly.
Happy birthday!
Lin, I hope you didn't throw the pot or soil out. I'm told they form tubers. They're supposed to come up every spring. They die down in the fall, like the florist gloxinias.
Hope you have a wonderful birthday & lots of fun
Arrrgh! Yep, I'm pretty sure they were some I emptied into the trash week before last!
Thank you everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes and to lbrabec for giving me the heads up come over and for starting this thread!
SUN was the order of the day, after what seems like weeks of rain (much needed, but a break is also welcome!)
DH came home with 6 baby chicks and just told me to get ready, he's taking me out for dinner!
Here are a few of the new day-old babies.
Thank you again all! BIG hugs all around!
Lali
I'm late! Happy Birthday to you Lali,That's a cute little chick!
A belated happy birthday to you!! Enjoy your baby chicks!
Here's a quick report from dinner (copy/pasted from the Garden Talk forum thread)
Well the whole family arrived and we had a fantastic dinner. I had the asparagus risotto - which was divine! And my best friend made me my favorite meyer lemon cake, made with her husbands home-made (and home distilled, yes, as in moonshine!) meyer lemon limoncello! Even the frosting has limoncello in it! We also had a few orders of pana cotta with raspberry puree and caramel drizzled over it. It was like heaven!
All in all a fantastic night, best part - both of my kids and my best friend's son (who is like my own) were there at the same time. A feat in itself to get everyone together!!
Thanks again to all
quick story on the moonshine. Late last summer, my Asian pear was so heavy with fruit (poor pruning on my part, laziness!) and several branches snapped with about two bushels of ripe to semi ripe pears were about to go to waste. My best friend's husband is a winemaker here in the Napa Valley, so I called him to see if he wanted the pears to make wine. He did! and Asian pear wine he made! Then he decided to distill it and came up with some ferocious asian pear moonshine! From that he made the meyer lemon limoncello.
Sounds like you had a great birthday. That limoncello sounds yummy!
Lynn
