Ok, I've gotten different answers to this question and need to know this:
Who has successfully planted carrots in earthboxes? Not something else, earthboxes ok?
And have they been the short ones? I get the impression that I might have the wrong kind for planting in the earthbox as I have the Sweetness II variety. Will the type I have grow in an earthbox and if so, how do I plant them. Some people are saying don't start the seed before hand but put the seeds right in the EB? How come? Has anyone started carrots from seed and then planted the startlings in the EB? How many and how many rows? Do I use dolomite lime?

Anyone Planted Carrots in the Earthbox with success before?
Joy, I have never grown carrots in earthboxes, so I can't respond to that part of the question, but you do not want to start seedlings for carrots, you want to plant them directly where they are going to grow.
They do NOT transplant well, so I would not attempt that.
I have planted short types of carrots in EB's. I broadcast the seed , cover with a thin layer of coconut coir, and water gently. I do not use the plastic cover, and top water as they grow. I do not use the fertilzer strip doing it this way. Just some water soluble type. Worked real good except I didn't thin them out enough, but still got lots of carrots, just small.
