Come to the CITY!

Bartlett, TN(Zone 7b)

I live just outside Memphis & every year I see lots of small butterflies but where are all the bigger ones?

I really want to add some butterfly loving plants like the yellow bfbush & lantana. I currently don't really have stuff for them other than other "normal" flowers.

How else can I attract them? Big or small.

Don't forget to check out the "sticky thread" at the top of the Hummingbird and Butterfly Gardening forum.

There is information on nectar and larval host plants as well as links for butterfly and caterpillar identification if you are interested in raising and releasing them back into your yard.

Another thing that will help is to go to the BAMONA website and click on your state and county and see what butterflies are native to your area...then browse through the species listed and click on those you'd like to attract. Read about their caterpillar hosts (larval plants) and the adult food (nectar plants) and incorporate those into your yard.

I used to live in Memphis - Shelby County - but wasn't into attracting or raising butterflies back then.

If you plant it - they will come!!! :o)
