Lots of good stuff to be found here - even during a monsoon - just ask Becky!! Their nursery was stocked last year in March (read banana plants galore - lots of Cactus - Maid of Orleans jasmine 4" pot for under $7 and that's only the beginning)....their pottery yard is ALWAYS stocked...lots and lots of great nursery supplies...various bird baths and house...just good ole shopping - nuthin' fancy but the "Price is Right." My kinda place. Bec and I have plans first weekend of March but (need to check w/her) I don't think there's anything else on the books yet. Anyone else interested?
Williamsburg Pottery March Road Trip...Interest
That would be a great trip, however I limit my long travel plans so I have to decline. But for those who have never been there, and love to shop this is a must, and a group would be a real blast!
I have been there many times as an over night stop over when going to the Outer Banks or traveling father south.
Just wanted to give your trip a boost, Chantell.
P.S. I have not received any compensation for this endorsement
No checking needed - I'm in!
Chirs - you're too funny (the ten's in the mail tomorrow)
I would love to do something like that, but the first weekend is out for me. Could that be a destination point for a mini-round up? I've not been able to get to a RU yet & sounds like great fun!
I'm thinkin' it will probably be one of the last 2 weekends of March. As for a RU - there would need to be someone to host one down there, plan it and of course enough DGer interest in that area to attend. Good news is anyone (DGers) can initiate a round up. Becky did the one here in Northern VA/MD/DC area last year. Jill "Critter" has put on the seeds swap RU's and fall RU's for the same area the last two years and has actual posted some great "how to" articles for RU's
I've read one of Jill's articles, I'll search & see what else she's done on the subject. Thanks Chantell.
"Weekend in Williamsburg" sounds like a fun mini-RU to me! I might be available the last weekend in March, but don't plan around me. :-)
I'll go add this to the "Party Time" thread. I wish some more folks would have responded on the "should we sticky the Party thread" discussion, because I do think it would be useful, but I can't ask admin to do it on the strength of one positive post from me and one neutral one from Hart. No matter, I can keep bumping it up...
I'll be able to do a Sat. but not a whole w/e...just took on another p/t job and my Sundays (for the most part) will be taken
Anyone live close enough to scout out the area for a meeting place or a great place to meet & eat? I'm game for the last weekend of March too & can pick up a couple of DG strangers on the way!
I will be watching this with interest. I used to love going to The Pottery.
Ruby
I made an executive decision - Chantell & I are heading down on Saturday the 28th ^_^
How was it?!?
We need a report!
So sad I wasn't able to head out there this past Saturday. I'm sure you had a blast!
Well - how was it - hmmmm, interesting - it is obvious that the current financial situation has had an impact on the place...we had fun (heck Chantell & I have fun wherever we go) - but, it was definitely a change from last time
poor selection? or great sales?
Ah, place looked more worn down and only half the inventory it had earlier - I'd say maybe half the shoppers as well - plant selection ok, but riddled with insects - the best place was the deli-section
As I'm enjoying Spicy Sesame Linguine (purchased there) w/brocholli and lightly blackened chicken breast strips
Too bad about the plants! Sesame linguine.. sounds good. :-)
What??? No pictures from our shoppers (aka photographers) to share? LOL
Come on now Bec...show the pic of you in the hat!! OMG...we were laughing so hard it caused a seen - she kept saying just take the pic...her camera wasn't cooperating...needless to say it became a spectator sport.
Ahem, I think NOT - and we didn't cause a scene - we just had way more fun than anyone else...^_^
Why? Because we "are THAT good!" ROTFLOL Why I love using that line from Grey's Anatomy so much is beyond me...
Bec - THE pic...come on now...share with everyone
(Bangs garden fork in one hand and trowel in other against table) We want the photo! We want the photo! We want the photo!
*banging and joining in the general commotion*
We want the photo! We want the photo!
Chiming in...
Show us the photo! Show us the photo! Show us the photo! Show us the photo! Show us the photo! Show us the photo! ;-)
Seriously, that doesn't sound very good - so do you think I should waste any time going over there this weekend while DH is looking at antique guns? Maybe I'll just plan a photo expedition of the spring flowers that I HOPE will be blooming...
Oh my gawd - fine, I'll post the silly picture when I upload it! And believe me, it is not one of my finest moments...^_^
LOL...is she a good sport - or what????? I wasn't impressed with the greenhouse this year...I did score I nice 4' tall but narrow trellis...but as for plants...nothing I couldn't get here or already had
Bec, I was just being silly - if you don't want to post the pic, don't!
Chantell, thanks for the info. That will save me a trip! Maybe I'll go over to Gloucester to visit Brent & Becky instead... ;-) Have only been there in the winter, when not much is happening, so it'd be nice to see them in the springtime too!
How was the pottery selection?
(I want to go to B&B's!)
Oh I know you were all "funning" - it's Chantell I hafta beat upside the head for bringing it up!!!!!!
Pottery selection was dismal at best - no more parkinglot full of pots in all shapes and sizes...
Well, rats. I recommended it to a neighbor a couple of weeks ago... no wonder she hasn't called to tell me about all her fabulous finds, LOL.
No photo you could post now would be as good as the remarkable images I've been conjuring up in my head. ;-)
Critter,
After checking, I'm not sure I'll get to B&B's this time - they're not open on Sundays, and close at 4 on Saturday. I don't know if our time schedule will work. Oh well... IF I get there, I will report back! ;-)
I DID hear about a nice garden center on the western outskirts of Williamsburg (Norge)... Hmmmmm...
I love it! You two have so much fun :)
Good hat. LOL Better cheesy grin!
Twas NOT having issues...was pushing JUST fine...thank you very much!! YOU my friend have NO double chin...sheesh!!!
Hmmm . . we'll be down there in early May and I was, of course, planning to hit the Pottery on the way out. Well, maybe we'll stop at Ginter in Richmond instead. Have always wanted to visit and I think the Saturday we'll be heading back is the same as their plant sale. Hmmmm . . . .
You goofballs LOL... What a great picture.
Love your Easter bonnet, Bec. It's so you. LOL
I think what happened to the pottery is so many other outlet stores opened in Williamsburg, they lost business. But my goodness, in the good old days, it was wonderful. Acres and acres of stuff at dirt cheap prices.
