I thought how long has others been doing Poultry. So I thought I would start a thread and ask. How long have you been raising poultry, what kind?
I started back last week of June with this bunch of chickens, I ordered them from Ideal. I got bantams, laying hens and polish aka Top hats. These were the bantams from Ideal. I only have 3 left now as i sold off most of them.
When what and where?
Ahhhh! I wish I could have some.
Hey Wren i thought maybe you were going to get some doves??
Not right now. I having major dental work to be done. And I am also watching a fight over chickens in the town near by. Plus will have to wait until all the new piping is down for the new sewer-at the rate they are going it will probable take another YEAR.
Okay i was just wondering hope everything go's well
It should I had the major problem pulled last week.
I think I should wait to make any derision about getting any birds until the sewer is done.
I'm also having major dental work done Wren.. still recovering and on my birthday I get another surgery... then I will have a pretty smile. :)
Love the chick pics!
I have more then one more, darn. I go down to the dental collage so it is spread out. But the price is great 50.00 to have a tooth pulled. Will have another tooth pulled and 2 bridges put in and some other work.
Hi Luvs: I have been around chickens as a youngster for many years. But, never had any real interest in then until about eight years ago.
My daughter had a small flock of seven and was moving, she could not take them with her and so her dh was going kill them and she mentioned it to me. I did not like the idea of killing them so told her I would take them and give them a home.
They included 2 barred rocks two RI reds, one americauna, and two unknown breeds. I noticed whenever I was outside, which was often they always followed me around. Well needless to say we became friends and I began to really notice the individual personalities, Fell in love and have had them every since. They will always be more than just chickens to me. I love socializing with them, and yes we do talk to each other a lot. Thats what I love about this forum, is how much the people here love their birds. I love learning from the people on the forum, as well as what my birds teach me. OH one more thing I really love about this forum is, all of those of you who speak in the language of abbreviations. I told Silkie (I love reading her posts) It's like visiting a foreign country, I read all these abbreviated posts and then I get the rest of the day to try and figure out this foreign language. Hey Luvs, I was little when I went to the family’s chicken farm in Delaware. They raised chickens for Purdue. I use to love it when they got the little babies. I was never around for Pick up day. :o That would be too sad. So, I have been asking DH for almost 15 years for chickens. He finally gave in a year ago. I am so thankful. I do love them all.
