My hubby bought the car I have been wanting Friday. I have not driven for years with my Chronic Fatigue. I am finally ready to do some driving. This is a 2009 New Beetle, the color is called Heavenly Blue. I named her Bluebonnet.
OT My brand new car, she is a doll
Lovely car, lovely color!
(I think I'm in love!)

Lynn
Love it! Sally, she is a pretty one ... love the color and the name!
When we were first married, we bought a 1969 VW Bug - and had it thru the early 70's. My husband was young and really into cars at the time. He had a lot of custom work done to the engine and a custom paint job ... it was a pretty thing, but after the special engine stuff was done I could hardly get the thing in gear ... I was little bitty105 lbs back then and not strong enough to shift the durned thing. Wish we had a picture I could post! I think I will look through old photo's to see if I can scan one into the computer later!
Good luck with your driving after the long absence. I know you will adore your new little Blue "Bug" and you will look great behind the wheel!
Thanks! I just took my little dog to the vet for a re-check of her eye. Her little car safety seat can be in the front since the airbags don't go off unless the passenger weighs 95 lbs.
Was a LONG wait, two emergencies came in. Not a good morning, but it is over.
I drove our Suburban's for years. I loved them, but a few months ago we got the Lincoln crossover. Great car.
Hubby drives our Lincoln MKX so it is fine to have a another car that does not hold a lot. This is pure FUN and is so precious! The giggle factor is great!
I haven't driven on the beach in years (since they began charging a toll for driving on the beach) but I think that little bug would be so much fun to drive along the sand: http://www.daytonavisit.com/beachcam2-db.htm
That car looks GOOD on you!
Sally,
You and your new care look great... I wish you nothing but great luck with your new baby.... Sally can you dmail me about the lights bothering the birds eyes??
Hugs,
Susan
I will dmail you now. Thanks everyone!
A match made in heaven!! You and your little bug are a winning pair!!
YOu are so funny, Sally! I can just see you in your little VW convertible. My daughter went shopping for a car........not a particular car..........just the best buy around. They found the Lincoln Navigator (she has kids) at a bargain price with this economy.
My friend I nursery shop with bought a car today the same way..........she went to Car Max and found a 2008 with 16,000 miles on a Toyota crossover for 12,000 less than a new one.
I hope you have fun driving again and what a fun car to start!!! Love the blue color.
Thanks Gail. Our other car is the big one, this is just for fun and boy is it!
I thought you said it was a Lincoln navigator or i wouldn't have mentioned that my daughter got one this week...................
As fast as I drive, no one would turn me loose in an adorable VW convertible..........^_^
Gail, the Navigator is big! I didn't mean ours was bigger, ha. Ours is a crossover, the MKX. Smaller. Our Suburban's were large like the Navigator.
You would love the Beetle! They are JUST like little people, hehe.
i could never drive anything that didn't hold garbage, plants, trees, etc..................(LOL)
You would be surprised what you can get in a little car. Went to Marsall(TX) pottery and brought home over 200 clay flower pots, several plants, myself, 6'3" Dh all in a Nissan sentra^_^
lol!! That car would give anyone the inspiration to drive!
Glad your 'dream came true'!
Yes, I got a LOT of groceries this morning. For serious hauling of huge mulch bags etc, we have our other car.
The guy that took my groceries out for me loved the car! I put the top down so lots of bags could go in the back seat. Just me, my purse and the roses were in the front.
I love having the top down. So much fun to drive. I was so happy to have done it all alone today! Has been so long. I wanted to tell the gal that checked me out, but that would sound so goofy!

Congratulations Sally! You Did It! I bet you looked so cute driving your little blue bug! It really fits you and I know it must be so much fun! I would love to have a little car again. Mine isn't really huge, it's a Mitsubishi Diamante, 4 door sedan. My husband has a fancy humongous pick up truck! It's waaay too big for me to drive, I'd probably wreck it just backing it out of the garage, LOL. When we travel we take his truck because it is so much more comfortable than my car.
Don't get me wrong..............my car is a piece of garbage^_^ but it doesn't have any carpet on the floor so I can haul plants around...............it is an older Honda Element that has a taller ceiling and a wider base for a small car.
Congratulations on the new car! It is wonderful having a vehicle that fits you. We bought a GMC Acadia and I am SO IN LOVE with it. I can't imagine wanting or having any other vehicle, even a super duper expensive one.
Sally, congratulations on your new Bug. Drive it in good health. It sure is a beauty.
I keep coming back here and looking at the picture ... it's just sooo cute! ^_^
