I want to grow Roma's so badly, but I need advice on what breed any of you prefer. There are quite a few out there on the web. Thank you so much
Recommendations for italian flat Roma beans please
I get my roma beans from an Italian seed company called Franchie, the website is: www.growitalian.com
I have the Super Marconi, Smeraldo & Meraviglia Venezia. I really enjoy them all, and typically grow way too many of them.
kanita
I can second they have excellent seeds (I just don't personally care for Roma's)--they also have larger than normal seed pkts so don't get too carried away unless you have lots of room.
The pole Romano's do best for me. The bush Romas just don't like the heat here.

Thank you all very much for your help. I believe I will go with FarmerDill's recommendation because he is in my zone and his weather conditions are exactly like mine. I appreciate you all.
Ummmm-Helda is my FAVORITE!!!
Kanita, thank you very much for the Franchie website. They will be getting some of my money by the end of the day!
And thank you all for the recommendations for Roma style beans. They are on my "try new" list for this year's veggie garden. Darkroomdreamer, you and I appear to be on the same veggie track!
No problem Terri! I'm glad you found some things to try. The seed packets are very generous in size.
hehe Terri, looks like it! And my DH hates green beans! I love the italian flats cooked in a big pot with some new potatoes, cut up onion, and a couple slices of bacon or a ham hock. Ummmmm
Thanks again for the link to Franchi's. I just got my order today. I ordered the "Supermarconi" variety of Italian flat bean. And lots of other seeds as well. The amounts of seeds in all the packets are most generous!
The delivery of these beautiful, large seed packets with lovely photos on the front and the recent posted photos of beautiful veg gardens on a different post in this forum has got DH (the city boy) all geared up to help me get my veg garden site fenced off this weekend. Was going to do it last weekend but the wind was too much for me. I can't burn off the site right now as we are under a burn ban, but I can get a bit started and work my way from there.
Ahhh, those beans and potatoes won't be far off now!
they have great seeds--super germination rates on them too.
I'm glad you are happy with your purchase Terrie. I can't wait to see photos of your new garden.
