This is a fairly new one (at least for me) offered by agristarts. I am wondering if anyone has a photo of it or a description? Also, is it known as one of the 'Jewel' Alocasias?
Kind of wondering how to take care of it. I looked high and low for a photo on the internet and have not found anything. Thanks

Alocasia 'Silver Dawn'
The Silver Dawn is a very new Alocasia hybrid of the longiloba type. No pictures are available on the internet yet. I have one of the original plants obtained directly from the breeder. The leaves are entirely silver-gray on the upper side and dark red on the underside. It should be considered one of the "jewels' as far as care is concerned. Early on, I told the breeder that my name for it was 'Silver Ghost'. It is a striking plant and looks like it could grow as large as the bigger longilobas. Of course, I'll be crossing it with a big terrestrial like A. odora.

LariAnn,
Thank you very much for that information. I read all your articles recently on the Jewel Alocasias and took notes so hopefully I will be able to keep it alive and happy lol.
It sounds really pretty and I am looking forward to getting this one. I can't wait to see what becomes of a cross with the A. odora etc. That would really be something !!

Lenette,
Yesterday I took some pictures of my Silver Dawn and will post one this evening for you to see. It is not blooming yet, but once it does, I have high hopes of crossability with A. odora because I think I've already succeeded with a similar cross between A. odora and A. watsoniana (a spectacular giant Jewel in itself). If you are interested in a Silver Dawn for yourself, please dmail me.

P. S. I have a couple more Jewel Alocasia articles in the works so watch for them - one is already scheduled for next week.

Thanks for that photo Lari Ann! It is just beautiful. I ordered some Silver Dawns and a few of the other jewels from the agristarts co-op, hopefully they will be here in May sometime. I'm so excited :)
I see what you mean about the name of 'Silver Ghost', I bet it would give off a little ghostly glow in a low light situation. I can't wait to see what your future hybrids will look like and looking forward to reading more about the 'jewels' and any other alocasias.
