Does this hibiscus also have a name such a "Colorful" or such? You have given us all the information that can be had for a tropical hibiscus but it's name. Your name is "maureen" etc and you are homosapian, etc, etc. What's the hibicus' name? Have you looked it up w/all the information in PlantFiles or taken the picture to a nursery to ask them if they know which one it is?

Maureen, this one looks like a Hawaiian Salmon to me. Hopefully Robert or Cat will see your message, either one of them will know for sure.

Check out these pictures and see if this is it. Several members on the board grow this cultivar. I do too, but mine has only bloomed a couple little deformed blooms with the winter weather the way its been. Hawaiian Salmon flowers are lovely, and the bush grows really fast too :-)

Hope this helps!

Hi Everyone,

Maureen
It almost looks like Hibiscus "Albo" to me. Not sure where you can get it but it is more of a garden variety and may be available near you.

Hey Karen,

I looked through all of my hawaiian salmon pics and it was similiar but I dont think that's it. BTW have u heard from Cat lately?

Mol, Belgium(Zone 8a)

It's a garden variety with no name. Sometimes it's referred as Sprinkle Rain which is very different. It's neither Hawaiian Salmon nor Albo Lacinatus.
It's a mini with the same size as El Capitolio and similars. It's easy to find it in the mediterranean coast.

Hi Robert:
It has been a terrible winter for my plants. Most of them are just sticks (they got freeze in Christmas) and they will need a severe prune next month.

This is a picture I took in Crete several years ago of this variety, no more than 3" or 4" wide.

Regards

Carlos

Maureen, I'm glad that you now have a "definitive" answer, lol. Sorry to stear you wrong...

Carlos, great to see you back, but I'm sorry to hear about your winter problems. If it's any consolation, most of my plants here in So Cal are just sticks now too :-(

Hey Robert! No, I haven't heard from Cat, but I've been wondering if you had. I'll send her a d-mail, I hope everything is okay with her.

Hi Carlos, we had a freeze too; what a terrible year for us all. Hurricanes and cold weather all round.

Hi Maureen, I was given this plant from a friend about a year ago.
He told me that its name was "Jorge-Joel". I have since made several copies of this one as it roots very easily from cuttings.
I can send you a few cuttings if you are interested... :~)
