seed sprouting

Canyon Lake, TX(Zone 9b)

I would like to know anything about sprouting seeds to eat. What do I do, and how to get started, as well as are all veg. seeds safe to sprout and eat? Thanks, Krispi

I have a sprouter (google seed sprouter) and wouldn't even attempt it with out one. I used my old one all the time and luckily received one of the auto sprayer sprouters (technical name eludes me) for Christmas.

I mainly stick with Adzuki beans, Alfalfa, Broccoli, Garbanzo, Radish, red clover, and wheat. Make sure you follow your sprouter,s directions for seed sterilizing.

I do Mescalin outside in small shallow bulb pans when its cool enough.

Debbie...I have to get a sprouter! Thanks for reminding me. I bought seeds to sprout from Thompson & Morgan two years ago but they were out of the sprouter. So there the onions, beets and other seeds sit in my seed box. Did do Adzuki in a glass jar and they were great but something more dedicated is, as you say, the way to go.

Here's an article on sprouting: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/495/

I've never done it myself, but I think I'd also personally go with some sort of sprouter, at least until I got the hang of it. Good luck! :-)
