Time to Celebrate!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

It may not be the prettiest blue egg, but it's the most precious egg in the world to me today!
My blue Hatchery Ameracauna laid her first egg today. She is everyone's favorite, cause she is so friendly.. Now she is a celebrity.
She got warm rice and scrambled eggs with a little bit of garlic and alfalfa sprouts for her celebratory dinner and a hug.

Here is her egg next to Molly's (the Barnevelder)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So do you eat it or hatch it, Joyce?

How ironic you gave the Mom scambled eggs as a reward! LOL Gosh, can you imagine giving it, its own egg to eat?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

It's so nice to be around people who KNOW how exciting this is.. LOL Thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it.

Hi Kell!! No, I ate it.. I made a sandwich.. it was great. Such a treat! Yeah, I give em eggs, mostly just the chicks.. but this was a special day for her. The eggs have to disguised so they don't start eating their own eggs..

I got a dove egg last night she seems to be setting on it pretty good. Took a pic but it was to dark, will have to catch her off the egg again to get a pic. It is sooooooooooooo tiny of an egg. Not much bigger than a marble.
Didnt want to start a new thread hope that is ok ZZ.

ZZ:
Congrats! I've never seen a blue egg before. We are getting about 5 or 6 a day, it's so amazing to me. I was getting worried that something wasn't right, so we put in a light and two days later.....eggs!
I love to sit and watch their behavior. The first sign of change was when I would reach out to pet them, they squat down, stick their butt up and lift up their wings. Then they would jump in and out of their boxes. Then their combs got really red. And then they got really loud and the soft "buck-buck-buck" turned into "CLUCK - CLUCK - CLUCK"...I can hear them from inside the house!
I just love those birds. Mine are getting so friendly, they fly up on my shoulder and snuggle on my neck. They are so cute! My flock is getting along really well, I would like to get a white one with those crazy feathers on top.....I thought I would look into it this year at the county fair...

Lisa Lu same sounds here. Then they look and its like OMG you see that under there. Some of my girls just cluck a little bit then I have some that tell every body with in 3 county's, hey every one I laid an egg I repeat I LAID AN EGG!!!!!!!!!!! Good thing I dont have any neighbors to speak of. Especially with the roosters, they ALL have a crowing contest. Some are just starting to crow and they really sound like a bad case of congestion.

(Zone 7b)

Congrats on the dove egg Luvs the male should help with the setting some of my males hog the nest.
You would think they laid the egg as much as they like to sit on them.
If you have any questions just give me a holler.

ZZ i love that Blue Baby!!!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yes i have lots of questions, she keeps moving it around and really not setting on it to much.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

got a 2nd egg from the doves, now not sure if it is the 1st laid 2nd egg or a different girl. We will wait and see.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)
