A first for me -

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Today I started potting up a bunch of cuttings I made in January coming from Ted Green's house. This leaf...with roots coming from the leaf stem and NOT the plant stem is the FIRST time in my ? years of rooting cuttings (that I have ever seen this). And the roots from the leaf are plumper and healthier than the roots on the main cutting! No idea how this happened...but I wanted to post it to show that....yes, leaves do root!!!

I love to root from leaf. Here is a latifolia leaf just putting on good roots.

You are lucky!!! This is the first time I have seen roots coming out of a leaf!!!

By the way...that hoya is one with many names which makes things confusing if you trade or sell them. Ted Green calls this hoya H. latifolia and he also published it as H. loyceandrewsiana. (Sorry, don't ask..long boring story) David Liddle calls another hoya with the name H. latifolia and calls that 'latifolia' of Ted Green IML 0088. Just so you know it runs around with 3 names....

Thanks, Carol as I didn't know about the 3 names. I have always loved trying to grow anything by leaf.......Begonias are the most fun.
