I dug these from the overgrown homeplace next door. Here is what I know about this daffodil:
The property has been vacant for at least 40 years. The lady who lived there loved gardening and it is overgrown with irises, daffodils, spider lilies, ditch lilies, crepe myrtles, quince, babys breath and other things. Her daughter is now elderly and in the nursing home so I'd say the original gardener would be at least 90-110 if she were still alive. The daughter remembers these flowers from her childhood. So I'm guessing that they have been there for at least 60 or 70 years.
These are blooming right now, before most of the others planted on the property. The blossoms are HUGE and somewhat fragrant. The patch in the picture is in full all day sun and it is about 14" tall. But the patches on the property are about 20-24" tall and barely get any direct sun at all where they are located. (Maybe that is why they are a lot taller?)
