There are many pink hibiscus, but unfortunately as far as I know there are not any pink cultivars of H. coccineus. Pretty much any other species of hibiscus (hardy or tropical) comes in pink though.

Yes I know there is many pink Hibiscus.
What I ask for is the specie Hibiscus coccineus Texas Star, if anyone have cross the White and Red one, to get a Pink?

My white have right now start to wake up after winterdormant in my garage.

As I said in my previous post, to the best of my knowledge there are not any pink cultivars of H. coccineus. If you could easily get pink by crossing red & white there would undoubtedly be some pink cultivars readily available and I've never seen one.

Hi Everyone,

I've never seen a pink but I'd love to have 1 if they do exist. Thats all I need is more attention to my back yard behind my fence. I have red and whites in a corner that grow much taller than the fence. Makes for interesting conversation now. Especially when the fence went down during IKE. Wonderful foliage!!! LOL If I see any pinks I'll let y'all know. You never know what people grow down here in texas or what they come up with. Someone at 1 time told me they had a yellow but has yet to show me. I'd have to see it to believe it!

Sorry, I reacted too soon and didn't focus on the specific type of Hibiscus, i.e., Coccineus, however, there is a type of Coccineus called "Turn of the Century," that displays pink and white blooms that are edged in red. In any event, I don't think this is what you are looking for, but you have presented an interesting challenge for breeders. Snug

Unless there are two different hibiscus with that cultivar name, 'Turn of the Century' is a cultivar of H. moscheutos, not H. coccineus. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/37924/ (and all of the pics I found when I googled H. 'Turn of the Century' looked to be the same as the one in Plant Files)

Itīs Okay snug and moscheutos I have an white one, Hibiscus moscheutos 'Blue River II'
very beauty that one too. Turn of the Century was very awesome. Cuter than my Blue River II, I think white flowers are rather mediocre.
ecrane I cant trust that you of all people knows that there isīnt anybody who have succes with cross red and white and get a pink coccineus. I have heard that itīs excist a pink somewhere :o)
I keep try find it.

Hi Ecrane, you are most likely correct insofar as the Turn of the Century Hib being a moscheutos and not a H.coccineus. There may be an error on the site where I found it identified as such: http://www.richfarmgarden.com/hibiscus.html. (Scroll down about 3/4 of the page.) The internet, as we all know, is not always 100% correct--the edu sites are the best.

Thanks, Snug :o)

I wouldn't trust that site at all (at least for nomenclature). They have several other plants that are definitely H. moscheutos cultivars (Blue River II, Kopper King, Plum Crazy, Lord Baltimore) labeled as H. coccineus, so they obviously aren't clear on the difference between the two species.
