Rothkirch

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

For a while I thought I had lost Rothkirch. During a windstorm one of my Banana trees fell on her and snapped off most of the branches.
Of course none of them rooted. So I was left with a trunk and one main branch. She rebounded quite nicely as you can see here and is putting on a nice flush of flowers. easy to see why she is so much in demand.

Nice but almost impossible to root. Airlayering is probably the best bet but I won't touch this one for at least a year until she canopies out more.

Beautiful. She is one of my favorite singles. Nice pictures.

I forgot to add a picture of Rothkirch in Iowa in my above post. I love this brug. She was probably my most photographed brug along with Rosalie and Rubirosa.

Number two on your list Bettydee (if you don't have it already and like these area type blooms) should be Rosalie. Rosalie is a Rothkirch x Ocre cross and has many of the Rothkirch endearing qualities without the hassle. Easy to root, fast to grow and a very vigorous repeat bloomer that sets pods easily....This is a picture of Rosalie from this season. She is about to flush again for me in a major way. You can see she displays a lot of the Rothkirch genes and has a larger flower.
