I really love this calendar. You can buy it, or they change it by the month. Depends on how far in advance you need to plan, I guess. Destroy weeds this week, and this weekend, prune to encourage growth. Crape myrtles, get ready!

any ideas for how to plan this into a workable schedule?

i mean, for those of us who work full time and have to budget every second of "free time" already...

should i make a list? is there a good way to organize it? do i have to associate plants to days of the week/hours ruled by planets/etc? i sure hope not, because that's one of the reasons i kept avoiding the whole correspondence-based gardening thing... but it is so extremely difficult to get anything to grow in new mexico in the first place, that i have finally accepted that i need to make use of anything that might help. i am dealing primarily with vegetables, fruit, and a few decoratives. if i have extra, i'd like to do the farmer's market, but most likely i will only grow enough to freeze for my own family, if that.

i have used the almanac before, minimally... i found it kind of confusing and not always possible to do what was recommended, given my other commitments and responsibilities... and the way they write the modern almanacs seems to minimize the spiritual/magical aspect if they possibly can, except for a few pages on astrology at the very back.

I check the calendar daily, and if it says PFH (plant flowers and herbs) and I have flower seeds to plant, I do it. But you can't really tie yourself to it. I mean, if the cauliflower is ready but the next HC (harvest crops) day is two weeks away, I mean, what are you going to do? Just let the cauliflower go? If a job needs doing I do it unless it can wait until the calendar suggests.

If I get caught up too much in complications and trying to figure out how some declination affects things at latitude 30, I eventually give up!!!
