Questions on Lights for veggies

Crestview, FL

Ya'll I'm getting ready to go outta town for about 3 days. I've had my tomatoes, peppers and cukes and 3 eggplants up under lights, flourescent ones and what should I do? I won't be here to turn them off or on, can I just leave them on for the 3 days I'm gone?

Joy,
Do you have time to purchase some timers before you leave? That way you could set the timers and not have to be there to turn on/off the lights. Just a thought...Sarah

Sarah, nope, no money to do that right now and no time to find someone to help me with that, so, hoping it will be okay, have had the lights on now for 24 hours since I put them under there until I was told not to; but, I think they'd be better off with lights for 3 days then not any at all for 3 days. I don't really trust anyone here to turn them on and off, and don't want to risk it really.

How about a security type timer switch found in any hardware store for probably less than 10 bucks. Plugs into any standard outlet, easy to use.

Might have a good neighbor or friend check on plants so they don't dry out during your travels

Al: Knowing my neighbors and friends, they will neglect and abuse them while I'm gone. I have a few people that might do it one day out of the three; but not all three days I'm gone.
