Help with my brug cutting

Plymouth, PA(Zone 5b)

HI I got a brug cutting the other day, and as suggested I placed it in clean water, changed the water daily yet today one of them was so wilted and mushy I had to throw it out :(

The other is somewhat wilted but has lots of white bumps on the stem of it. Should I plant it now or wait. What is causing it to become all wilted?
thanks

some don't like to be started in water. I'm trying to keep a list, but I'm still too new to know. Take the other one and put it in a soil mix and water, then leave it til you see new growth. Don't let it totally dry out, but keep it on the dry side rather than the wet side until you see it putting out.
Now, that's how I do it. Someone else may come in and have another way.

Very good tiG.
