Late this afternoon I saw this Hawk on the arbor. All the birds had scattered.
I believe it's a small Coopers but from what I see of the tail it might possibly be a Sharp-shinned.
Resin can look at it later.
Crazy Animals!
Pelle..I don't have any squirrels...sigh...but yours are very comical! What a hoot! Love your pics...what a beautiful bird!
He's beauty, Pelle, so daring, of the squirrels to teases this hawk. Do they think they have nine lives!!! But squirrels are playful little critters, they make me laugh. Very entertaining.
Yep, Cooper's.
Resin
Pelle, they are fantastic shots. Incredibly clear and the lighting is wonderful.
What a hoot! I got a good laugh at the squirrels cheek, they must think Hawks don't find squirrels tasty. The Hawk looks indignant at their attempts!
Actually, Im having a hawk problem. There are so many right now I just cant keep them out of the squirrels nests. I was out trying to get leaves out of the pool just yesterday...the freking squirrels are screaming like one has been hit by a car and left for dead. It makes you a nervous wreck and it goes on and on. I already know about the hawks out front, but never thought they would come into such a tree cover as I have in the back. I threw the net down and was about to go inside and looked up and yep, there sat one. I took the net off and went out, wishing for the camera first, but them took the pole and banged it on the tree, the thing just kept looking at me and I kept banging, finally it left, and the squirrels shut up. Anyway, magestic and beautiful as they are, there are to many here. Im wondering if they too migrate. There was a flock of crows that flew over me last week,, looked up and it wasnt crows at all, it was at least 30-50 hawks. BEUATIFUL sight, the sun hitting that black and white on the bottom of the wings. Point is, thats too many hawks for me to enjoy my wildlife.
Any chance these will go away?
Funny thing about those hawks, once they got out of the tree and into the wild blue yonder, all those hawks just spread out and vanished into the big sky. Cant help wonder where they go as loners, and how they can hook up so fast.
I find the big squirrels will come and do anything to keep the hawks occupied and away from their nest. It doesnt ever work tho.

Love your pictures Pelle. They sure are clear and show this beautiful creature very well.
Beautiful hawk and yes, silly squirrels. Of course mine tempt the dogs all the time. I don't think my one dog wants to catch them as much as just chase or stalk them.
Thanks guys!
Garden, Maybe there is an abundance of squirrels and that's what is drawing the hawks in.
I do understand how you feel though. No matter how natural it is never a good site.
Do you know what type of hawks they are?
Pelle
Pelle, that is one handsome hawk. My squirrels scatter or flatten up against the trees when they come through!
Gardenglory, I know Broadwing Hawks migrate, not sure right off hand what others.
Pelle what a crazy bunch of squirrels you have there!! So daring aren't they! Great shot I love it~
Im not sure, they seem to have more of an orange colored beak. I wish I could something remotley as good as your pictures. I certainly know what they look like from underneath.
