The very best storybook chicken house ever!

Rutledge, TN

I love this little shack, it sits outside an antique shop and they will NOT sell it. But I think it would be the most delightful chicken house in the world... I am going to build one. As soon as I figure out how....

Oh dear. I wouldn't fit through any of those doors...It'd be Alice in Wonderland trying to get eggs and clean it. When you build one, make me a secret door? Or just a pick-up roof would be dandy...

Ferndale, WA

I agree: That would be the ultimate chicken coop. Blubunn you have grreat taste.

Sorry I didn't say how gorgeous it was...It IS Beautimous!!

I just had visions of me sticking out of it a la Alice (strong A, Claire) and well... Me and the Marvelous Egg Eggstraction...'Cept in my nightmare version it would be bloomers skywards...

Well, it will have to be taller and have a "human" back door, but with some adjustments I think it would work out just fine. Tricky to build though.

Believe me -I was thinking of ways to make it easy to use the whole time!!lol. Just had to share my vision...sorry.

I think its absolutely adorable.

There is a guy in WA state that builds whimsical little outbuildings like these and sells them. They are great.

I also think that there was someone on BYC that has one like this and (I may be dreaming) showed how they built it...
Here's the link of what I must have been thinking of:

Its definitely not the same, but I think it does a good job of showing that you need to break down the structure to the most basic form and then build on the cutsie parts...

As far as the owners of it go... what fun are they?!? They have the front roped off so no one can peek inside AND they won't sell it??? ...the nerve!.... ;-)

I LOVE IT!!!

They said folks try to buy it all the time, but they use it draw us into their Antiques Shop. I hate to see it wasting away like this. It would even make a grand doggy house.

Oh Grow!!! I so can see you stuck in that house!!! ROFLOL!! Place potion outside the door!!
I guess if you were to build you could have a wall that would swing open in the back to clean out everything and have nesting boxes that are removable. It is a shame to waste that house, like you said. Next time you go, bring them some chickens and tell them if you cant have it for chickens than they need to get chickens. It will surely do one of two things. They will either give you the house or they will join Daves for chicken advise. A win win situation in my opinion!!
