CLOSED: Plants trades to Europe?

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

I got a request for some cuttings from Europe for Yellow Jessamine, (Gelsemium sempervirens). I'm not sure we can do that can we? Just seeds? I don't have seeds for it yet...matter a fact, I forgot my cuttings were up against the back of the barn(covered) so they might not be any good anyway. They were rooted already tho...so maybe.
Anyway...anybody got any experience with sending cuttings to Europe?

I've sent cuttings to Ireland with no problem. I don't remember what I put on the customs slip, I'm sure not cuttings, though.

Never Send cuttings or plants over seas. It's a big waste of time if you do not have a phyto certificate, which costs a fortune, Your plants or cuttings will be confiscated at customs and your liable to get a big huge fine if not more. Not to mention, it's against the law.

People do it, though they are taking very big chances. I will never do this. I won't even ship to Canada becuase it's against the law, and that means, you will be fined if caught. Sometimes just repremended, but why take the chance.

Kathy,
That's exactly why I'm asking this question. I cannot afford nor do I want to end up in a big 'to do" over a trade. I'll let them know that If I can get seeds I'd be happy to send them...but no cuttings.......
Thanks...I just needed to know for sure.

They need the phyto certificate to come into the US. Going to any other country depends on the country.

Glad you didn't send first. It's just not worth the risk, most times the plants/cuttings are dead or rotted by the time they get there anyway .

good luck trading.
