Fertilizing and changing color

Starkville, MS

Many of my hydrangeas have developed wimpy colors. The results of several soil samples indicate that the soil has become a little alkaline------------so I am planning on adding sulphur to the soil and then put on some aluminum to make them bluer. I got the info on this from several books on hydrangeas. Does anyone have any suggestions about when to do this and how much? I am in Zone 7b-----where the early morning temperature was 20 degrees--------but going up to 50.

Please excuse this entry. I got confused on where I was!
