Welcome back to civilization! I know how awful it is without power for a week. That first hot shower is heaven!
You were missed Grow!!! I heard about the ice storm! So sorry it was so long before they could get the power back on!!! Take it easy and enjoy the power awhile.

Well, we were relatively VERY well prepared. I lost half a container of cottage cheese and some green beans I'd frozen. We had no phone service for 7 days, but some of the people here with well water but no generator, electric heat but no electric and no stove, roads finally cleared by the National Guard on Sunday...I actually got to have real baths and cooked food so I've got nothing to complain about. And I had a one burner butane stove, plenty of candles and candlesticks, and a couple of lanterns.
Must say it is VERY nice to not be cold. And not have to wonder whether the animals will have enough water that I get to bathe tonight!! Our little wood stove could keep the house between 55 and 65 and heat up all the water my water bath canner could hold twice daily. If the animals had water somebody got to bathe...3 day rotation and boy were you glad for your day!!
