I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this as I have planted this outside already but..... I have a poinsettia that I got for Christmas last year and I am wondering if I can dig this up and bring it back inside to winter over. and if so hints on how will be greatly appreciated. I am pretty sure it will not winter over outside.
Poinsettia ????
It's more likely to survive, and probably thrive, if you pot it up. You might want to begin the 12-hrs per day in the closet routine about mid-October if you want colorful bracts for the holidays...
Hi perLite. I knew you would come to my rescue. Thank You. Can you elaborate on the "12-hrs per day in the closet routine".
For Christmas color, they need (I just checked for my accuracy) 14 (rather than the 12 I originally said), that's 14 hrs. of darkness per day starting in October. You can pop it into the closet or cover it up. Then give it 10 hrs of light. This fools it into thinking it's time to bloom.
