Indoor Pineapple

Chatham, IL(Zone 5b)

I saved a pineapple top four years ago, sprouted it and potted it up as a patio/houseplant. just recently I noticed it was blooming. Oddly enough it chose to set fruit out in mid-January here in Illinois. Should I feed the plant at all? I don't want to ruin the pineapple fruit, but I would like to see it get big enough to eat/use as a new start. I have never heard of anyone keeping a pineapple as a houseplant, and certainly not a mid-west indoor pineapple going to fruit. Anyone have any advice?

I would fertilise it using a non-chemical fertiliser, as you do plan to eat it? Try half strength, as something is better than nothing! Good luck. (they love sunlight)

I grew one a few years ago. I only watered and it was the best pineapple I have ever eaten. Then I started another one with its top and are hoping to have another one.
