it's really quite simple, just choose your medium, i use strained av soil, dampen, not soggy, sow the seed on top of the dampen soil & then use a very fine mister to mist the seed. do not cover the seed with soil. Cover the container with plastic or dome it, you should have seed a several days, usually pretty quick.Never let them dry out, after they are up a bit, pick them up with a tooth pic or something & put them right back down in the same spot, makes them grow larger faster.

Hy Lynn:
I guess i should have clicked on the link you gave, du lol anyway, as i said before, tell your friend to pick thoses little seedlings up & put them back down at least once a week & they will grow much faster.i would not transplant them untll they have at least 6 sets of leaves, kind of like this picture, these are very young seedlings

What size cup/pot is that little plant in? I've got some ready to pot up separately but I'm afraid I'll lose them. This is my first sinn seedlings. I can't leave them in the seed cup much longer, so I'll have to be brave and try it. tish

Don't worry about leaving the sinningia seed too long. I never got around to planting up these red peloric sinningia speciosas....they even have nice big tubers in the original pot I started them in. I am still going to separate them and then pinch back once they settle into their own solo cup.

These were planted last summer. All the others are big and blooming.............(that I did pot up)

I have snowflake x self. seedlings. I never put down a date I sow or pot up, so I don;t know how long they've been in there. I did take some out last night and will leave the rest for another day. that way if I lose some I won't feel so bad as I'll still have the rest to try again another time. I did move the roots though to encourage faster growth. thanks! tish

the pot is a 2 ounce solo cup like you get from restraurants, they work pretty well.

I use the 3 ounce solo cups for everything from seeds to baby streps just separated from their mother leaf. I get them at Walmart or the grocery store.
