Hi folks, I have been watching this site for a couple of years, although it has been awhile since I posted anything. Now I have decided to join. Is there anyone that is from the "Middle of Michigan" area. I've only been around this are 4 years and it sure would be nice to chat with someone that enjoys gardening as much as I do. I tried garden clubs but there is only one that I know of and they seem to be more the "Master Gardener" type. All have been together long enough that they "click" I am very shy when it comes to moving into a group. if you know what I mean,More a one on one type.

A michigan gardener
Hi Margie,
I'm northeast of you in AuGres. I'm between Standish and Tawas on the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. We moved up here about 4 years ago from Garden City downstate. My husband retired last year. My 93 year old mom lives with us. We have a small 28 acre farm. Twenty acres are in woods. We're big into vegetable gardening now but I do still love my roses and other perennials. I've downsized the flower beds a lot after we moved. I didn't think I'd be able to keep up so much as I got older. I have one 14 x 45 foot bed out front full of bulbs and perennials and a few roses along the fence. It's enough for me. I do put some annuals in some containers and that's all now. Our season is so short I can't see spending hundreds on annual like I used to. We put most of our efforts now into the vegetable garden and fruit trees etc. I like to mow grass. I have a great big commercial mower and I mow about 8 acres every week. It's one of my favorite things to do. :) Crazy I know. We have two little bichon frise dogs. My son is the plumber here in town and I have an adorable little granddaughter who will be 3 in June.
If you are every up my way be sure to let me know and come visit. Glad you have joined in and hope to see you posting often.

Hi Margie
Welcome to the Michigan forum.....I live just a few miles north of Brenda in the AuGres area of the state only 3 miles from Lake Huron. I live on 200 acres, and mostly do flower gardening. There are so many wonderful knowledgeable gardeners here in the Michigan forum, and very generous ones I might add. Many of us have met in Roundup's we have done to do plant exchanges, and there is talk that we may be doing another Roundup this year. Stay tuned to the Michigan forum to find out.

OH Marggie..
I know what you mean!!! I joined my local garden club 7 years ago. It is a very nice club. But all they do is find ways to raise money so they can give it away!!! Garden Tours, auctions, etc.,
We have speakers every month. It is 'nice'. Most women there are do SOME gardening. But lots come for the social environment. That is why i love this site. These people are kindred spirits...PLANT ADDICTS
or growing addicts of all sorts!!! You can spend time locked into many fascinating discussions of every sort. And very knowledgeable people too!! Oh i love it here. You will too!
Welcome and chat with any body at any time we are all gardeners who Love the earth!
I am from the Flint area ( south in Fenton)
