PVC pipe bench
Cool! You done good! :)
Neet, Is that 1" PVC?
Thank you
Yes it is the heavy 1" PVC pipe
Very nice - did it end up being very cost effective?
The benches DH built for me are 2x4s with fencing (about 50', $30/roll) stapled to them, set up on cinder blocks. Now dats cheap! Not as pretty as yours, though....
When I finish the second second section I will have a little over $200 in it. The only expenses part is the selves. But to get any where near that amount of shelving it would be more than twice that and the shelves would not be as sturdy.
I have sloping land that can not be leveled and thanks to the moles the ground is very lumpy. So cinder blocks would not work and the store bought ones can not handle the lean for long. With the PVC pipe I can adjust the height on the down hill side and the long length of the bottom pipe spreads the load.
I decided on the closet maid shelves: one because it is hard for me to stretch the fence wire that I have tried tight enough And in the end the amount of fencing that I would need would cost almost the same if not more than the shelves.
Sandy the epi nut.
Sounds like it's a perfect solution for your situation - that's great.
*And* nice looking!
Than you.
Hi Sandy,
I'm glad to see you found a good solution for your shelves. Looking Good!!!
Thank you. I was surprised at how much shelf room I had. Which means MORE EPIS!!!!
That looks great. So good that I would even put it in my house in front of my patio door.
Thanks for the idea.
You are welcome. The nice thing with the PVC pipe is you can also paint it with plastic paint. I believe that it is a Rustolia (?) brand.
Wren, I got a plastic greenhouse last year for my birthday and just used makeshift shelving in it. Wow, was that troublesome to say the least. Well, my birthday is coming up again and hubby and I were discussing what I wanted. I suggested some type of shelving for the greenhouse and after checking on the web and seeing the prices, he said he would make some from pvc tubing and closet shelves. That is how he made the light system for me in our basement. I wasn't sure about using it for greenhouse shelving till just now when I found your picture and Wow, I love it! Best thing, well, the best 2 things are: it's very nice looking and it can be taken down and stored for the winter.
Thanks for the picture! I called hubby in to look at it, he looked at me sideways and said,' Yeah, that is what I said I would build for you.' Then I said,' I hope it looks as nice.' LOL
Here is my light system in the basement.

Looks good.
You would find the joins from this web site will make it easier to build. I have more on the way.
I also found that HD will cut the closetmaid shelves for you. I am making the other back benches 7 feet long to allow for a place to hang one of my epies.
