Have a question regarding old bird baths

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm from the gardening forum and they said to check with y'all. I have an old icky looking bird bath. I want to make it look better with some paint or something. BUT I don't want the birds to be hurt either. Is there something safe to use to paint this old bath?

Hi Darla, I would go to the home improvement or paint store and tell them what your doing. You'll have to know what the bird bath is made of so they can recommend the correct type of non toxic outdoor paint to use.

What is the bath made of?

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Or give it a really good scrub-down with a wire brush?

Its pretty heavy so I"m guessing concrete

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I think I would just give it a real good scrub...maybe plant something around it to sort of hide it a bit.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

does it look like this: this one is concrete.

I would paint with whatever, but then use a "green" sealer. This is what they recommend when making cast concrete leaves.
