Dessert Valentines day

Making this today for a special dinner - thought this would be nice for Valentines day.

Donau Wellen- (Danube Waves)

Cake
2 sticks of unsalted Butter room temp.
1-1/3 C Sugar
5 Eggs
3 C All purpose flour
3 tsp baking powder
3 T Cocoa such as hershey,sifted
1 T Milk
1-1/2 Cans (24 oz) tart pitted cherries drained - discard juice

Beat Butter, eggs and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Slowly add flour baking powder. Grease and flour a shallow baking pan (12x8x2) and spread 1/2 of the batter into the baking pan. Add Cocoa and milk to the rest of the batter and mix well. Spread on top of white batter, sprinkle cherries over this batter and press in lightly. Preheat oven to 350 * and bake for 35-45 minutes. Let cool completely.

Cream
1 3/4 C milk
1 pkg vanilla pudding (4oz)
1/3 C Sugar
2 sticks unsalted butter room temp.

Prepare the pudding as directed on packg. with the milk and sugar. Let cool to room temp or a bit colder. Beat the butter until creamy, add the cold pudding, spoon by spoon while beating. Let sit.

Finish
Spread butter cream over the cooled cake.
Refrigerate. When cold either drizzle melted semi-sweet chocolate over the butter cream. Best cover completely with melted chocolate with a tad of butter added. Serve next day. Cut into desired size squares
