Recipes?

La Grange, IL(Zone 5a)

Is there anyone who might be able to recommend recipes that would be appealing/acceptable to a vegetarian who is not fond of the taste of beans (or really any indian-tasting food in general...)? He isn't particularly finicky, except for that. For instance, artichokes have never been an issue. Nor have asparagus. I've made some fairly extensive searches myself, both in books and online, but all I can come up with seems to be bean-based.

Either recipes or direction towards recipe locations (cookbooks, internet sites) would be much appreciated.

And, while I'm at it, for my own personal interest, does anyone have any really good seafood recipes, or know where I could locate some?

... I hope I'm on the right forum? =)

Asian foods have few beans... does this person do tofu? Anyway, seitan is a wheat-based protein, can be made at home using high-gluten flour, and used as a stew meat or burger replacement in many recipes.

Beans & lentils are eaten around the world. They don't have to be cooked East Indian style. Beans/lentils are a staple around the Mediterranean as well as Africa, South America and other Asian countries. Is it just East Indian style beans that are the problem.
Most traditional vegetarian societies include some type of pulse in their daily diet. Will the person you are trying to feed consider a lentil/bean prepared in an Italian, French or Greek style?

There are many lacto-vegetarian recipes around. What are the preferred styles of cuisine?

You might post on the recipes or cooking forums, too.

There have been several threads on them about vegan and near vegan recipes.

Do you like bar-B-Q? I make a very soupy bar-b-q sauce with pinto beans in a large cast iron skillet, then make biscuit dough with chili powder in them, dollop them on top of the beans and put into a hot oven. When the biscuits are almost done, sprinkle cubed cheddar and jack cheese over the top and cook until the cheese is melted.

Don't know anything good personally, other than to check on Chinese or Buddhist recipes...

Jayryunen,

Thanks! I'll check that out... and, yes, he'll eat tofu.

Garden,

It's possible, I suppose. I think the problem is just anything that tastes predominantly... beany? He'd eat them if they weren't the main flavour, I think. Cuisine-wise, he'll eat almost anything... although, I suppose I should say American, because he'd like pizza to be a dietary staple. =) Unfortunately, though, one can't live on pizza alone. He also really likes hot vegetable sandwiches (possibly also American?).

Bubba,

Thank-you, I didn't even know there were cooking forums. I'm not too talented at navigating this site, yet. =)

Luanne,

Thanks, that sounds interesting! I would probably like it. Do you know if it tasted very much like beans in the end?

Grownut,

Thank-you anyway, and thank-you for the link!

Tastes like bar-b-que, but it does have the texture of beans. I'm not sure which he dislikes.
