Can any tell me how to go about doing cuttings and getting them started? I have a couple of leggy ones that really need to be taken down so they will branch out with more foilage, rather than just one big gangly looking thing.
How to do begonia cuttings?
I assume this is a cane? If so cut it back to a height you like and it should branch at some of the nodes.
Remove the leaves from the cut stems except the top two or three and either water root them or put them in good potting mix, perlite, or even sand. They should root in a couple of weeks depending on growing conditions (light, heat, etc)
Here is an expert's advice on rooting begonias.

Thanks hcmc I know we talked about this b4 but I couldn't find the thread we were on. Yea it is a cane. Tell me is Fannie Mosier a cane or other?
Thanks, gotta give it a shot this thing is so gangly it looks terrible.
Canes can look bad in winter unless you give them LOTS of light but if they continue going downhill they may die completely.
Oh they are getting new leaves and all but just got gangly b4 they started leafing out any. I have only got a couple that have done that so they are doing pretty well otherwise.
Canes can be either very beautiful (mostly in summer and sometimes in winter) or very ugly (a lot of thin leaf ones have serious problems in winter due to mildew).
Here is a no name tall growing cane with medium size leaf that I prop'ed late fall. There is probably 50 cuttings in the pan and I think every one must've took.
hcmc am not swearing to it but that looks like the Medora that I have. If you can't handle all those you could send some my way LOL
Nope, not 'Medora' (it has much smaller leaves, about half the size of this one) - had it many times but always end up killing it each time. Maybe I will try it again this year when Lowes or Home Depot gets it in real cheap.
Here is 'Medora' from a few years ago when I had it growing in a 18 inch pot with acalypha repens. Notice the cut stems - very woody.
Well I was just taking a guess. There are so many of the canes that look so much alike it is hard to tell what you have.I have one here that all it says is orange and one that says dbl pink. They both are angelwings but don't know the names of them. oh well I like them anyways. LOL
You have some of the prettiest begonias I have seen. I am hoping to get some more this spring. There are several that I want but just don't have the room for them right now. Hopefully I will be able to get the GH up early spring and then I will have a place for them. I plan on putting them outside this summer in pots and stick in the flower gardens I am going to get done this year. I have so much planned I don't know if I can get it done b4 winter sets in or not.
Yea and then they aren't as pretty cause they don't get the light they really need in the winter.
