SusanLouise,

That is a great picture of a Praying Mantis, but it has been pointed out to me that it is not the Carolina Mantis, which has wings markedly shorter than its body.

I believe it is an image of the European Mantis - Mantis religiosa: http://bugguide.net/node/view/234299/bgimage

If you agree, I would like to move your image to our page for the European Mantis: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4054/

That is not a Carolina Mantis. It looks like a Narrow Winged Mantis. It might be a Chinese Mantis. I think it is a Narrow Winged Mantis. I cannot find any Narrow Winged Mantids where I live. They were very common in South Korea like the Chinese Mantis. Where I live there are mostly Chinese Mantids. I am breeding Carolina Mantids. I became a member here just to correct some stuff about mantids. I will look for a place to introduce myself.

The abdomen is thin. But it looks like a female, so I think it is a Narrow Winged Mantis.
