I have to order mine, Lynn. Let me find the site and come back with it for you.

When I make my soil less mix, I use 1/2 #3 and 1/2 of what you have because it is expensive to ship (25.00 to ship) and 25.00 for the giant 4 cubic feet which will last you for a year anyway. I also want to use it in my hoyas I repot this spring.

It ranges in size from 1/8 to 3/8" I think. I also use the big (one tablespoon) of it in the bottom of my pots for streps, etc.....so that air can get to the roots of the plant and they don't sit in water.

It is called sponge roc perlite #3.

Thanks for the link,Gail. It has a lot of interesting additives on it.I always wondered what Turface was.

Turface is a different product than this i think. Turface is real heavy.......It only costs 12.00 in Houston but would be 50.00 to ship (LOL)

But they are both to provide good drainage and aeration........

Thanks again.I am going to check out a large local nursery and see if they might be willing to order things for me.It's worth a shot and might save on the postage.

Lynn,
I ordered from our local nursery only to get them to give me smaller per lite then Miracle Grow... This is what I did... I was going to order off the site Gail mentioned the sponge rock... But here I had all this course per lite from the nursery... So when Roxanne sent me a care package she sent me little round screens you put at the bottom of your pots and I am able to use the small per lite with these... It is screening you would get like at Lowe's,home depot to put in to replace your screens in your windows.... It works for me...

PS. The cheapest place you can get perma nest trays is capecodvioletry... 7.00 for each but if you buy six or more it drops to I think 6.75 and if you order 12.00 it is 6.25. Just my two cents..

Thanks Susan.I will try screening.I will have to buy trays and supplies gradually, but it will take a while to build a collection.(I hope) LOL...I tend get a little or maybeee a lot compulsive when it comes to Gessies.^_^

Shoot when I got here I said no way I am only here to play Bingo... Look at me now... I have way to many but I must say I am not buying like I did at one point... There were 3 others I really wanted so I can't buy just one for the shipping so I get more in the box...LOLOL I still have one to get... So happy addiction...

In the past I was up to 300 or so and all kinds of houseplants. No wicking and working fulltime.I need to be a little more cautious this time......wish me luck.he,he.
It was so hard to pass up leaves for a quarter and starter plants for a dollar and up.

Well this time can be cheaper at least...LOL Leaves and baby plants are easy to come by here... ^_^ I got three leaves from Lowe's that fell off the av plants... Well lady said to keep them... they won't grow... Well I have a Chrystal glasses that are full of babies from these leaves... LOL I don't even want to count how many plants are on those three big stands.... No I won't count... I won't... There are 4 perma nest trays per shelf... x's 3 shelfs... at least 6 to 10 plant per shelf... NO I WON"T COUNT...LOLOL
