A friend and I went to the Anahuac Nature Preserve. There were only a handful of birds where there should have been hundreds. They've done a lot to clear the hurricane debris, but it was still everywhere like a wooden rocking chair in the ditch when there wasn't a house around for miles, a light bulb stuck at the top of a bush like the bush just had a great idea. There were several fires off in the distance too and with all the debris in the brush, the fires smelled like burning plastic.
Did see this new bird for me and a Northern Harrier which was also new for me and there were lots of tracks in the mud, so there's hope.
