The love of my life...

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Meet my new Seramas.
Dot is black and white...
Micro is the blonde...

The other one is a mottled cochin bantam that looks huge compared to Micro & Dot

My mom was in the hospital when they were hatching.. and I told her the egg would easily fit in her pill cup... She wanted to see them so bad, I'm sure that is what gave her the strength to get home so fast! (she is 95)

I took a pic of Dot in her pill cup.. it turned out terrible.. but I was right.. she had to practically tippy toe to touch the bottom of a 1oz cup!

Cute

Awwww! Micro Dot!! FUNNY! they are soooo small!!
How is your mom? I sure hope filling her pill cup with chicks is good medicine! hehehe
Those are really pretty even wet still. Cant wait to see fluffy pics!!!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you Birthday Gurl!! She is fine and home doing well now.

Yes, they are puff balls now.. and Dot is hyper.. she is lightning fast.. Micro does the "pre crowing chirping" sounds.. and it's a sight to see. They are totally entertaining.. I am nutz over them!

I put my hand in and scared Dot.. She landed in the water and popped out like popcorn! She is such a crack up... (she, being wishful thinking)

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

They are hilarious when they are that little.
They have no fear. I was cleaning out the cage and put them on the floor. I got up to go to the kitchen and they chased my feet!! FUNNY stuff! Are they all the same breed? The one is huge. hehehe

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

The huge one is a Bantam cochin! That egg was small too.. but Dot is really tiny.. I should have gotten a pic of her egg.. it almost fell through the hole in the egg turner! LOL I will have to get a pic of Dot next to a Delaware.. I have a couple that hatched today.. This will be interesting..

I have collected little teeny tiny miniature stuff all my life.. Dot fits the program just perfect.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I just put Dot in the hatcher with the Delaware that hatched last night.. LOL
Dot was hatched on Sunday the 18th

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Duh.. Helps if I would attach the pic

ZZ's Those are about as cute as anything I've seen. Dot and Micro! love the names and love the pic's as well. You have every right to be very proud and happy. Haystack So glad to hear your mom is doing well.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Awww! They are cute. Dot is so mini! The delaware was born AFTER!!
hehehe that is funny. She is going to be so petite. How many more to hatch now?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I only got 2 Serama babiez.. There were others, but they didn't hatch. My incubator has been so hard to regulate. I bought an expensive thermometer, only to find out the cheapies from Walmart were just as accurate! So just a couple of degrees can make a world of difference with the Seramas. The egg is so tiny, temperature fluctuations affect it much faster.

I got 7 out of 7 on the Delawares yesterday! That makes me happy.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

WOW, I did not realize they were so sensitive. Are other breeds sensitive as well?
100% that is wonderful!!! They are good layers right? I would be thrilled too!! :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I didn't want to rain on your parade, but I haven't had any Showgirls hatch yet..(no reflection on the breed, it's probably my inexperience) I have some going in the hatcher Tuesday.. but that will be my 3rd and final try, till Silkiechick has eggs.

Yeah, they are good layers if you get pullets and not all roos! LOL

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

love the babiez zz just adorable!!! seramas r the most challengeing breed i've had to hatch so far, they r not like other breeds. so sorry none of the showgirls made it but don't worry spring will be here before we know it and i'll have eggs fineally. i so can't wait for the girls to pick back up i want more showgirl babies too, lol.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you Silkie! I want to be on your list for your Serama eggs too Silkiechick! Absolutely.. positively!

I can barely wait.. these babiez are the funniest so far.. I bet they are gonna be a total crack up when they mature a little! They jump at me and then run away..
Dot is as hyper as a sparrow! She will jump up on my finger, scratch.. then take off like a jet.. do a circle and crash right back into my hand.. I could sit there staring all day..

Reynoldsville, PA(Zone 6a)

lol zz, to kool i'm so glad u have babiez to love and spoil. i have egg and trade lists started so i shall add ya for both breeds to let u know when they r available. let me know if u want to try to work a trade for plants/cuttings ect if so i will add u to that list. i could sit there forever watching peeps too, i love watching them play and hearing the chatter.
mar

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Whooo hoo!! Oh Yeah.. we can do some major trading for sure! I have some brugs that will entice you big time. LOL You can put my name on every list you have! LOL (just kidding)
I will start putting together a list of what I have.. Thank you!

Silkie, I have a question.. do you know what I'm talkin about when I say pre-crowing chirp? Once in a while, I get a chick that does that.. Lil Micro, the blonde does it.. He will rock back on his haunches.. lift his wings out and let it go.. chirrrp cha cha chirrrrp Chirrrrp! it sounds totally different.. and it's a little ritual.. is that what they call pre crowing chirp? I read that somewhere.. and can't remember where.. but you sure know it when you hear it!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

My how time can fly by...

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Tooo cool Catscan! You gotta get a pic! I hope you get to hear his first try.. AND I hope it is as soft as Dot's was.. that was priceless.. I love those kind of moments... just makes the bad stuff go far far away.. :)

Edisto Island, SC(Zone 8b)

Edisto Island, SC(Zone 8b)

your blue cochin is a beaut!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you Virginia.. I love them.. I have 2 Blacks and him.. and Dot the serama in a group.. they are the most fun of all the chickens I have.. They chase my feet.. jump on me.. pick at my toes... run in circles... you name it.. they are a crack up.. very sweet lil group.

Here is the black pullet.. Snowshoe.. :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Hey SILKIECHICK!!! Long time no see!! Thank you.. :) Whatcha been up to?

These guyz are outside now.. and share the coop at night with the grown ups.. I can just let them run around cause they stay real close to their lil set up..
I've kept these guys too long.. I was on a mission to "place" them for a while cause I was so overwhelmed.. but this group is the most fun of all my chickens.. They love me too.. :)

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Snowshoe still looks like an eagle! That is the same one right?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Yup Sewin.. That's her! I think of that a lot when I'm out there playin with her.. sometimes she will crouch down to attack a fly.. and wow.. the look is awesome.. I love to watch them be silly..
You know how they get down and it looks like they are saying .. On your mark, get ready.. GO

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

I cant believe she can walk with those feathers wrapped around her toes! LOL

Lodi, United States

ZZ or the cochin?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Good one!

I told Cody when he is around them he has to do the chicken shuffle..

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

I have not seen ZZ's feet lately so I was talking about the cochin this time. :)

Ferndale, WA

ZZ's You have some of the prettiest birds and cute as a button. I was looking at the pic's and reading the comments, and when I saw snoshoe I immediately thought miniture Eagle, then I clicked down to read the following comments only to see Sewing take the words right out of my mouth. Eagle. Snoshoe is gorgeous and you are a Hoot. Haystack

Bye the way how is that terrorist Roo doing? I think you should name him Bin Khlid Akmahjahd. LOL

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Could it be that Snowshoe laid an egg already??? When Cody brought me a tiny egg yesterday.. I was sure that Pearl (Dutch Bantam) had gotten in the big coop... The egg was small but not bloody at all..

So this morning I go out and I KNOW no one got in the big coop last night... Cody had cleaned all the nest boxes and neatly arranged the wooden eggs... in which I found another tiny egg this morning!!!

I don't know that much about Bantam Cochins.. but the 2 boys have been crowing for a month or two..

I checked her vent.. doesn't look like a layer to me.. still yellow.. not big and pink..

I'm thinking I will see one of the pullets hiding in the corner watching me goin.. "Look, Look.. she thinks it's the Cochin.. he he he"

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

It has to be from the bantams.. No way could Snowshoe be laying yet..
I'm sorry.. my chickens are messing with my head.. sorry for the alarm! LOL

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

LMBO!!! That would be incredible! Those chickens keep you on your toes! (someone has to) :D

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I was looking for a pic of Teaspoon, a Serama baby and found this old thread...
I thought Haystack might like this... :)
