Just in case anyone didn't get the email:

The company that hosts the First Class web site has changed the FTP password. As a result, if you try to update your database you will get a password error. This is not because your update password is bad.
In order to remedy the situation you will need to download the latest version of First Class. Go to this download page http://firstclass2.com/version2.htm and follow the instructions there.
We're sorry for the inconvenience.

First Class Important Message
This would be great news if I knew what version I have? I used the disc and then just updated each time and don't know where my original disc is.
If/when the program is loaded on yer PC, you can bring it up (run it) and then under the postage-stamp logo in the lower right-hand side it will display the version you're using.
As of right now it should read "Version 2.6.1"
As for not keeping it loaded on yer PC and only running it from the disk... I have no idea how that would work.
It isn't working for me, but I will try again, thank you!
I have mine loaded on my computer.........thanks.......I just updated it about 2 weeks ago.......so I am going to assume 2.6.1" is correct and thanks very much for the help.
The first one of 2.3 and higher didn't work but the second one did download....and run.........very good.
***edited to say 'false alarm of success'. It is indicating that there is an error with my password......this is too difficult for me and I just paid the computer tech a small fortune last week to clean up my computer so I will have to live without first class until someone comes along that can help me.

I went to update a few weeks ago, and it told me I didn't need to. But, my version was something like 2.5.1 . . . I'll try again once I get home from work tonite.
Let me know what you find out, Nichole, please.
I'll dmail you Gail . . . after the kids are in bed . . . (as usual!)
This is a NEW update, not the regular January one that was done a few weeks ago.
If you don't do this update, it's going to tell you your password is wrong when you try to do the updates from the program, which is why you have to get the update from the link I posted:
http://firstclass2.com/version2.htm
You wanna download the one at the top,
Filename: firstclass261.exe*
File Size: 284 KB
Estimated Download Time (56K): 1 minute
I am letting Nichole figure it all out for me. I am computer challenged to put it mildly.
******I was doing so well and saved the first file......but then it said, to click unzip or something........will wait until Nichole gets home. Thanks for trying so hard to help me.......

Thanks, it worked this time. I got updated now.
I got mine all updated. When I got done it told me that this was my last update of the subscription and to contact the AVSA office to make arrangements and get a new password. Can you tell me how to contact them?
I've got that info at home, Joan. So if nobody posts before then, I'll let you know! ^_^
you should be able to get ahold of them using this and they can tell you how to do it

Thanks! I have the program still loaded on my desktop, but when I had to reformat the hard drive on my laptop I could load the CD, but when I try to run it, it tells me that I have a corrupt or missing file. So I need to get a new CD when I resubscribe too, if that's possible.
by the way Joan
I live in williston ,its about a 100 miles from you, glad to see a fellow ND person here
JIM
I just pay my 10.00 or whatever every year. Maybe I just need to start all over and get a new disc.
Awesome Jim! I know you are the first North Dakota person I've talked to on DG!! I've felt like the sole survivor for years! I'm so glad you are here.
I get to Williston once in a great while. I have a friend up there. Maybe someday we can get together.
Well, Gail . . . I got an error message saying that too many people were accessing the site, so I couldn't update. I'll try again in the morning.
Ok.........but now I have saved 3 different files.........so I may need to find out how to wipe out everything relating to first class...........just take off my computer and start over with a new disc. I think they call it uninstalling the programs............
we should do that joan, what gessies do you grow?
JIM
Well, I was able to update to the 2.6.0 version, but I'm still getting the "password not allowed" message, and the "publisher cannot be verified" message when I try to get to 2.6.1 version.
