Tri-Color Sage Seeds

(Clint) Medina, TN(Zone 7b)

I was in Target yesterday and they had (for $5.99!) an herb kit of Tri-Colored Sage seeds and a grow bag. I cannot find the seeds for sale by themselves. I just want a packet of seeds of this plant. Do any of you know of a source? Thanks so much for your help.

I ~think~ tricolor sage won't come true from seed and should be vegetatively propagated. Let me check for sure.

Could they just have the wrong picture on the package? It says "seeds included."

How about Painted Sage (Salvia viridis) from Richter's Herb catalog
"Fine Border plant. Floral bracts are intensely colored purple & pink"

They might well be seeds from tri-color sage. It just doesn't necessarily mean that tri-color is what will grow. It might revert back to its parentage.

That is a pet peeve of mine: when a supplier sells seeds that will revert but market them like they won't :( It is can be very disappointing if they buyer isn't familar with the variety.

I totally agree with you dahlianut! Like seeds for tarragon. French tarragon has non-viable seeds - they won't grow. The seeds of tarragon in packets is usually Russian tarragon - not the same thing at all. French tarragon has the delicate lovely taste.
