from my backyard today.............

Sugar Land, TX

I have not gotten out with my camera in a few days so I took it out in the backyard this afternoon and look what flew over, fairly low too. Taken with a Nikon D90 and an older Sigma 400mm f/5.6 APO lens.

I bought one more lens yesterday off eBay. This may do it for a while. My Nikon 500mm f/4 P lens is a bit much to be wandering through the woods with so I did some research and found out the older Vivitar 120-600mm f/5.6 MF lenses are getting good reviews. I found a bargain on eBay and I pounced on it. Got it cheap, too. I will write a review on it when it arrives from Illinois.

Good shot, Chris. Was it hand held? (The lens, not the bird)

Sugar Land, TX

Yes, hand held. I was standing there looking for any bird to land in a tree when he flew over. I think he was checking to see if I was still kicking! :-)

Nice shot. That new lens sounds really good. I'm looking forward to seeing if you like it.

the Vivitar 120-600mm lens got here. It is in excellent condition! BUT........it has a Pentax K mount, not the Nikon mount like they advertised! I am very disappointed to say the least. :-(

Be sure and get your cost, plus shipping, returned asap. We've only had a couple smaller things that had to be returned, but these people don't want bad feedback on EBAY.

Great shot!! there is a red shouldered hawk that I want to get a shot of but they are elusive!
I am a die hard 35mm user & have a Minolta XGM that I LOVE. I have found a camera place that repairs older cameras as mine needed a little repair that no one would touch. So now that it is fixed I am like a kid in a candy shop! hahaha
