I need help with shipped eggs.

I have some eggs that were shipped and most broke and leaked on the unbroken ones. Do I need to clean these off, some are very sticky. I will put them in the bator tomorrow.

I was told no washing. I also heard a soft sandpaper can get it off but please check with someone more knowledgable. I am sooo sorry about all the broken eggs!! That is awful. :(

thanks hun, I got them cleaned off and hoping for the best. It got my sportsman back in the house and working to get the temp up and will be making babies soon. I do have 3 doz minus 1 in the brower that WILL be moved over to the SM (sportsman) soon. That strobe light in my bathroom off my bedroom tends to inhibit sleep. Record breaking temps are due here Thursday.

Hi luvs
I was told many years ago, that having yolk on a hatching egg was bad news because of the posibility of bacteria developing in a warm climate such as an incubator.
I very recently had an egg that had some yolk on it because I was fighting with a Roo and another hen to get to the eggs first. The first egg had broken and splashed yolk all over the place.
In the fight to get the egg, I had to gently roll it out and of course, it went right through the egg mess.
I carefully washed off the good egg, using as little water as possible and put in the bator. It's fertile, but I was about to destroy my incubator. Piece of crap anyway. I hope this egg will hatch, but I am having my doubts because of the bator problems.
So, wash the egg off quickly, with a minimum of water, dry it off fast. To much water can seep into the egg and litterally drown the developing chick.
My mother would then wipe the egg down in bleach water but I think that's a little to much. I don't have bleach in my house now at all due to all the info I have on it. But, I do have a bottle of some Thyme (sp?) mix that works very well, and does not use the life threatnening chemicals.

Thanks, I did just that used very little water and whipped off the egg and patted it dry.
