We got snow last night and my grandaughter is off school today. She is already outside walking around in the snow before it gets light outside. She misses the snow from when we lived in Ohio.

LOLOL! It just started snowing. I was able literally to count the flakes. 19. Then it stopped.

We got 4 1/2" here in Raleigh. It's the most snow we've had in a few years. It stayed well below freezing all day so the snow was light and fluffy and very easy to shovel off the porch, walk, and driveway.
We got 53 flakes here on Johns Island at 4:13pm today. That's 54 flakes too many...
LOL.
:-) we continued to get a few flakes here and there all day; do you suppose it was only frozen humidity?
Ardesia,
Yes, it probably was frozen humidity from your frozen ocean!! That's a likely explanation. LOL

We had about 2 inches of snow here, just enough to mess up things and cancel schools!
We had a little over 2" here in Morehead City. My daughter in Apex said they had 7" at their house. Not much will melt today with temps still in low 20s here and not to rise much above freezing this afternoon and then back down to around 20 again tonight. The snowy yard is pretty but I'm ready for spring!

Just a trace here... the salt and sand they put down was thicker than the snow in most places, LOL.
Wasn't it-or should I say 'isn't it' nice, Tom?? So pretty and fluffy-and I didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn 'cause school was out!! Picture perfect:-)
hmmmm
the snow here has damaged a shed roof - I did n't think to check for roof stress. when the sun came out yesterday, some melted, but refroze and now today it's coming off in huge ice sheets - but the weight is pulled all attached ice with it, and some is not release - I'm seeing a lot of shingles flared and ajar - one I'm looking at is at 90 degree bend from the roof!
It's probably also damaging anything it's hitting below it - like plants! but there's so much still, I' cant' tell - I'm worrying about this old deck, though - it's shaking the house when the ice hits it.
We had a lovely snowfall here in northeast Columbia. The schools were closed the night before, but the total wasn't much more than 1/2". Still, I couldn't tear myself away from the windows. Rather than just melting away at noon, the snow lasted for more than a day. Well, okay in certain places -- like my back steps, of course. Certainly was clear where the cool spots in the garden are.
I really don't remember ever feeling as cold as I have this winter -- and don't say it's because of a-g-e. Last Saturday I stepped outdoors and told my husband this was as close to Alaska as I intended to live.
Still, the bitter cold wasn't the usual sudden swoop from a few days in the '70's so I'm hoping there won't be too much winter damage.
Ardesia, the photo with snow and the sign of a palm tree's trunk seems like something that's been photoshopped.
We got a bit over 1/2" here and it lasted until today in shady spots. I have 2 queen palms in the ground and even with 3' of pinestraw mulch and lights, they do NOT look happy.
It wasn't too bad at first, but then the wind started - eeeww!
