scent in h. multiflora?

Pittsburgh, PA

Just got my new "Genus Hoya" book (love it), but noticed they described Hoya multiflora as having a "heavy sweet scent" in the evenings....I don't have a multiflora right now, but did grow it a few years ago and don't recall it having any scent at any time....could anyone here comment on this? Thanks...

SR

Nope, not mine. But I'll check tonight just to be 100% sure.

Hmmmm, as the H. multiflora we know is known now as H. javanica....?

OOOOhhhhh....that's a good point Carol; they didn't mention H. javanica in the little description, and the two look so much alike I never even thought of it...."Hmmmmm" is right :-) I bet that's it!

Does anyone know if the specimen that Paul Shirley sells as "mutiflora Speckles" is actually multiflora, or javanica? That one hasn't bloomed yet for me.

The Swedes are pretty picky about using the correct names, too!
