I have three peacocks that I do not need in my breeding program anymore. This is on a first come bases. By that I do not mean first one to D-mail me I mean first one to come to my house and pick it up. All three are what is called a Spaldings, which is a cross between an India Blue and a Java Green. One is a Silver Pied, one is a Dark Purple Pied and the third is a high percentage Green. All are cocks. This is pickup only, which is why I am posting this on the Texas forum.
Free to good home.
I wish I had the space, they are so pretty!!!
Josephine.
Wish I were closer! My Houston neighborhood has a number of these and they are free range. I live close to the bayou and nature trails where they spend most of their time. I often see them wandering about early in the mornings when I'm out walking the dog. They will ocassionally land on my roof for a while. Neat birds.
OH, I would love to have them. I am in So Arkansas - and not familiar with Big Sandy, Texas..... what part of the state are you in?
Thanks
Genna
We are 30 miles north of Tyler.
what is the upkeep for a bird like that?
Beautiful bird. If I lived closer I would be the first one there!!
Have you had any takers? We're pretty close to you. We can come pick them up!
We are just northeast of Sulphur Springs and can pick them up tomorrow or Wednesday. LMK.
OT: Crow, you've them in your neighborhood! Wow, cool.
So, leave me in supense!!!
Did you get rid of them & to where? If they came south, I would love to & visit them!
:~)
The one in the picture is going to Nadine east of Liberty. I gave her a cock two years ago but she gave it to someone who wanted one and she gave her the tame one. The one she has now is not nice, so I am taking this one down to her and bring the mean one back. He will not let her gather the eggs. I do have a couple more to let go, if anyone is interested.
My husband was just saying a few weeks ago that he wants a peacock for our neighborhood. He remembers a couple that roamed his neighborhood when he was a boy in the early seventies. Our house is on a large lot and backs to a small (mostly dry) creek and he thinks it would be great to have one around. I have told him that the home owners association would probably try to haul the poor thing off, but he thinks the neighbors wouldn't mind and wanted to check Craigslist for free ones.
I won't tell him about this post. LOL
Those blasted texas HOA's :) they are everywhere. I'd venture a guess they wouldn't try to haul them off. It can be a wild bird nesting wherever it wants to after all. :)
Kenboy,You have so many beautiful plants and now fantastic birds I have got to make a trip to your place to see everything. What;s the admission fee? Thank you for sharing all the pic's of everything.
I have the room, but unfortunately in my neighborhood we'd call them dog food. :(
The admission fee is you must take home a car full of plants.
that sounds like a deal.
WOW..huh?..a tame one???..yea..now maybe I can gather eggs and my grandson wont be scared anymore going out to the henhouse now...he didnt like the mean peacock male...lol..Mikey always carried his PVC whipping stick w him..
