Any advice for first timer??

I just got a scrolling jig for Xmas and will be making my first attempts here shortly after I find some sawhorses I like. I wnat to make the yard decor from like Winfeild and Sherwood and maybe try some birdhouses and stuff-eventualy making my way up to lawn furn, a gazebo and a pergola. Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom to share with me??
